Well, we've just completed two weeks since we fueled up and provisioned in Nassau, Bahamas. We've decided to shelter in place here rather than return to the Bahamas. This could be risky because everything in the Bahamas comes from Miami on the Mail Boat. Fuel, Automobiles, Food, Clothes and Mail. The boat arrives each Tuesday to restock. It could be risky because if the US runs low then we run low. So in an effort to conserve all of our resources, we have tried to find new ways to recycle, everything, including water.
We have a Rainman Water Maker and we fill up our drinking water and the water tank every two to three weeks. However, we need to conserve the gasoline that runs the generator that powers the water maker. Whoa! Being self sufficient takes a lot of effort, but the freedom is worth it. So, we have started using ocean water to brush our teeth, yucky, with a fresh water rinse. Whew! We also bath in ocean water, shave, and do dishes. I haven't tried washing clothes with it yet, but I'll let you know when I do. In an effort to conserve, I decided to try using the ocean, salt water to wash my hair and then use the fresh water for the rinse. This is how it went.
