David Copperfield commissioned an artist to sculpt a statue of a mermaid looking at a grand piano in 2011. The sculpture was on the ocean floor thirteen to fifteen feet below the water, about fifty feet from Rudder Cay cave. It is said that he did this for something fun for his guest to explore.
The location of The Musician can suffer from some strong currents, as many places in the Bahamas do, so we weren't able to dive down to visit the mermaid. The piano is a full size replica of a grand piano and the beautiful mermaid lounges next to the piano seat, beckoning all who ventures down, to sit at the piano and play for her.
