I'm so super excited because this is the second time that Mike and I have been able to visit the Redwood National and State Park.
The amazing redwood trees are around 350 feet tall and lives to be between 500 and 800 years old. The oldest living redwood trees are between 2,000 and 2,200 years old and part of the reason that they have aged for so long is because they are recognized as treasures and have been protected.
In just a few decades, hundreds of thousands of acres of old-growth redwoods on private lands were logged. By the 1960s, industrial logging had removed almost ninety percent of all the original redwoods. Approximately 300 trees will be planted in 2022, and 700 in both 2023 and 2024.
