I have pale skin and I've noticed that as I'm aging, I'm starting to get rosy cheeks. I normally don't wear makeup because I'm on a boat, but when I go off the boat I like to throw on a little makeup. I can't wear foundation any longer becauce it literally runs down my face from the heat, so I can no longer cover my rosy skin. I know that being on the boat, there are several factors like wind and sun that affect my face, but I wear sunscreen to help prevent too mush sun exposure. I wanted to know what I can do to prevent the redness in my face so I did some research.
What causes rosy cheeks?
There are several reasons why my face may turn rosy. It all has to do with the blood vessels in my cheeks. I can have busted blood vessels due to several reasons.
Sun damage can enlarge my blood vessels and draw them closer to the skin. Probably, this is a big one.
Drastic changes in the weather may affect the circulation in my body, causing the skin in my face to flush. The blood vessels may burst, causing a spider vein. I first noticed this when we were in the Northeast during winter, but during that time, we were road tripping all over the United States from hot to cold temperatures quite often.
Sudden, extreme changes in pressure may cause small broken blood vessels to appear. Sneezing or vomiting can cause this change in pressure. I am a severe sneezer. I can't just sneeze once and be cute and demure. Nope, I have to sneeze at least ten times before it's over with. Doing this for 50 years probably has something to do with my rosy cheeks.
Exposure to certain chemicals or environmental pollutants may damage my skin and make blood vessels more visible. I'm wondering if I am possibly having a reaction to a product I use on my face? I try to stay as natural as I can but who knows what's real and not these days.
Rosacea is a common condition that causes the skin to become flushed and red due to enlarged veins. I had rosacea so bad in my thirties. I think it was from stress because of a life choice I made. It was so bad that I had to wear a green concealer to combat the redness. It went away after my divorce. Everyone knows that this year has been very stressful because of learning and pushing myself so far and so fast. It's been so much fun but stressful, and stress is major a link to rosacea, so this may be the reason for my rosy cheeks. But, it's not that bad, only sometimes do I notice it and I rarely wear makeup now.
Alcohol can dilate the blood vessels temporarily. Frequent alcohol consumption may lead to longer-lasting broken blood vessels and redness on the face. I do like to party.
What can I do to make my rosy cheeks less noticable with what I have on the boat?
Honey of all types has been used for centuries to treat wounds, burns, and rashes and promote overall skin healing. It's also naturally hydrating with the ability to retain moisture. I'm trying this.
Aloe vera has also been used for centuries as a healing plant. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidant properties to reduce redness. This will promote overall skin healing for my face. Woo Hoo! I'm trying it.
Oatmeal masks can reduces inflammation and irritation of the skin. Mix the oatmeal with warm water and mix until it's a paste. Put on skin and let dry then wash off. Sounds interesting and I'm going to do it.
I use Pomifera every day and that helps tremenously with my rosacea.
These are very good tips and I'm going to try these and see if it calms my skin down a bit. I'm sure being in the wind and sun has the most to do with my rosy cheeks but I will certainly try to keep my light skin burn free. Follow my journey to Fifty and Fabulous.
