Las Lajas is a town located near the major city of David in the Chiriqui province, on the Pacific ocean. The Las Lajas area currently has one major hotel, the Las Lajas Resort. Mike and his Dad wanted to explore this area since they hade never been here before. This lovely area remains a relatively quiet during the week, so we nearly had the place to ourselves, but on weekends, the beach brings many visitors to its brownish sands lined with palm trees. The temperatures in Las Lajas average between 30°C / 86°F during the day and 20°C / 68°F at night.
The hotel was quaint, colorful, and offered hammocks for each room. There were plenty of places to lounge around the pool and the beach. The restaurant and bar ambiance was tropical with great food and incredible service. The entire staff was so sweet and they all spoke English and Spanish. The beds were comfortableand the AC ran great. This was a great adventure.
We arrived at Las Lajas Beach Resort before check-in, so we decided to have lunch at the restaurant/bar facing the beach. The food was tasty, the beer was $1.50, and we had a friendly cat come see what we were having for lunch. We had to share a bit of our fish with him.
After lunch, it was tine to check out the room and Mike's Dad wanted to check out the hammock in from of our room. It was so cool that every room had a hammock.
Then it was pool time. Mike and I enjoyed the wonderful temperature of the water as we gazed upon the palm trees.
It was time to wander around the beach, watch the crabs run from the water into their holes, and just enjoy the sounds of the ocean. We even got to see whales swimming in the bay. Mike's Dad said the whales migrate to Panama to give birth to their babies, in the warm waters. Very cool!
It is the rainy season in Panama, so the rain came in and chased us away from the beach, so we decided to end the evening with a beautiful dinner and a few games of dominoes.
Then started a new day with a beautiful breakfast.
Here's a video of us enjoying the beautiful Las Lajas Beach Resort.
