Mike and I had lunch at the Peck Gulch Campground, located on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana. At an elevation of 2,470 feet, the campground encompasses 5 acres and is on the reservoir. Although not directly forested, this area is a favorite for many and has the distinction of receiving numerous yearly visits from travelers in neighboring states. Located adjacent to 90-mile-long Lake Koocanusa, this area is popular for its viewing aesthetics of the lake and is a prime kokanee salmon fishery. Fishing and boating may all be enjoyed in the area. This site is located in an open area and has no designated camping units. The campground can handle up to 75 camping units. Picnic tables and grills are available, as well as a paved parking area for boat trailers; there are high- and low-water boat ramps. The maximum recommended trailer length for the area is 32 feet. A fee is required for the use of this campground. Please limit your stay to 14 days.
