Mike and I did the Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. We had ice water pouried over our heads by our friends Mina and Ronnie, to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a motor neuron disease also called Lou Gehrig's disease. Then we also sent it donations for research. The challenge was co-founded by Pat Quinn and Pete Frates; it went viral on social media during July–August 2014. The huge initial influx of cash was generally well spent, with $80 million going straight to research. There are now more clinical trials for ALS than ever before.
