There are beautiful lakes in the park and glaciers carved most of the lakes thousands of years ago. The glaciers gouged out the valley floor as they moved . When the glaciers melted, depressions were left in the ground that filled with water from melting glacial ice. The depressions became the lakes that we see today and Jackson Lake is the park's largest lake.
