Mike and I were on Lake Tahoe when we came across the Fall Foliage map for the West Coast and we were so close the the Fall colors on the Sierra Nevada Mountains, so of we went on a new adventure.
The Fall Foliage in the Sierra Nevada Mountains did not disappoint. We found out that the trees turn colors here above 9,000 feet, so spent the day on the top of gorgeous mountains and the view was amazing.
It was such a wonderful day with the temperature around 70°, and the most beautiful, blue sky as a backdrop.
Approximately 400 miles long, the Sierra are part of a larger network of mountain ranges called the American Cordillera. This set of ranges runs the full western border of the Americas and forms the eastern half of the Pacific Ring of Fire.
Forming the eastern periphery of the state of California, this mountain range houses some of the most jaw-dropping scenery I've ever seen.
The Sierra Nevada Mountains extends more than 250 miles from the Mojave Desert to the Cascade Range of northern California.
