Good morning!
Welcome to Day 19 of our Throat Chakra Cleanse.
The Throat chakra, the fifth chakra, is the passage of the energy between the lower parts of the body and the head. The function of the Throat chakra is driven by the principle of expression and communication.
The Throat chakra is associated to the pharyngeal and brachial plexus and is connected to the mouth, jaws, tongue, pharynx and palate. It’s is also linked to the shoulders and the neck. The gland associated with the fifth chakra is the thyroid, which regulates the processing of energy in the body through temperature, growth, and in large parts, metabolism.
When we have a clear, strong, and harmonious throat chakra, we will feel self-confident in our ability to express our thoughts and feelings clearly. We will be open, fluent, honest, and unafraid to share how we truly feel.
An imbalance in the throat chakra results in shyness, inability to express our thoughts, secrecy, stubbornness, hostile communication, and a tendency to be socially overbearing.
Each of us have 7 Chakras and when balanced they work together to create an optimal life. If you would like to know more, here’s the info on the Daily Guide and What Are CHAKRAS.
If you would like to join me in cleaning my chakras, I would love it!
Yesterday's exercises -
Listening, check! I really listened to my boyfriend and his needs.
Blue food, check! I incorporated blueberries into my meals.
Meditation, check! I meditated to binaural beats.
Yoga - Baby Cobra Pose, check! This felt great!
Affirmation, check! I repeated “ I am balanced in speaking and listening.”
I am feeling so good. I know I’ve been saying that everyday, but wow! I’m so glad that I’m doing this. Woo Hoo let’s go.
Today we are going to focus on singing.
So much is going on in our body and mind when we sing. Singing can help strengthen throat and palate muscles plus singing is known to release endorphins, the feel-good brain chemical that makes us feel uplifted and happy. Scientists have identified a tiny organ in the ear called the sacculus, which responds to the frequencies created by singing. The response creates an immediate sense of pleasure, regardless of what the singing sounds like. That’s good!!! Not only that, but singing can simply take our mind off the day’s troubles to boost our mood.
1. Sing all day
Sing out loud in the car, shower or wherever. I love singing, even when I don’t know the words. Let’s have some fun and sing along to our favorite songs.
We still want to use meditation, yoga pose, food and an affirmation because this awakens and strengthens our chakra. We need all the help that we can get.
2. Meditation:
Here’s an app for Insight Timer Meditation
Here is the YouTube video for Binaural beats to use with earphones.
Meditate for as long as you would like and it's even better if you are out in nature feeling the grass and trees around to ground you.
Close your eyes and feel the earth beneath you. Inhale taking in fresh nourishing energy, exhale releasing all of the things that no longer serve you or help you move forward.
Sit with your shoulders back and your spine straight. Try to relax all your muscles as you close your eyes and breathe deeply. Inhale through the nose, pulling the breath as far down into your body as you can, and exhale through the mouth.
Chant HAM while meditating
Hhhhhaaaaaaaaaammmm
Focus a blue, warm healing, light coming from our throat.
3. Food: Blue
For a healthy throat chakra Eat blueberries, blackberries, blue grapes, currants, kiwifruit, apples, grapefruit, lemons, pears, plums, peaches, figs, and apricots.
4. Yoga pose: Supported Fish Pose
The benefits of Supported Fish pose is that it slows our breathing down and our muscles release stress. Supported fish gives us a chance to stretch your upper back, shoulders, chest and throat.
If you have any medical concerns, talk with your doctor before practicing yoga.
Place a couple of firm blankets folded in a long, narrow rectangle and stacked so that they are five to six inches high. Place the blanket stack lengthwise on the mat.
Place a folded blanket under our head and neck to elevate them. Make sure that there is support is under our neck as well. This pose should be comfortable. We can use as much height under the head as we need in order to feel relaxed.
We will lay down so that our lower ribs rest against the front edge of the blankets.
Now we will settle our body down and let our arms rest at about a 45-degree angle and turning our palms upward.
Relax and breathe deeply for at least a minute. We can stay in this pose as long as it’s comfortable.
To come out of Supported Matsyasana, roll gently off your bolster, onto your side. Take a few breaths on your side before pushing yourself up to sitting.
5. Affirmation: “I express myself clearly.”
When you state an affirmation you are stating a truth. Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind. The words composing the affirmation, automatically and involuntarily, bring up related mental images into the mind, which could inspire, energize and motivate.
Repeat all day long and if you look in the mirror while stating this, even better!
