Day 18 of our Throat Chakra Cleanse

Good morning!

Welcome to Day 18 of our Throat Chakra Cleanse.

The Throat chakra, the fifth chakra, is the passage of the energy between the lower parts of the body and the head. The function of the Throat chakra is driven by the principle of expression and communication.

The Throat chakra is associated to the pharyngeal and brachial plexus and is connected to the mouth, jaws, tongue, pharynx and palate. It’s is also linked to the shoulders and the neck. The gland associated with the fifth chakra is the thyroid, which regulates the processing of energy in the body through temperature, growth, and in large parts, metabolism.

When we have a clear, strong, and harmonious throat chakra, we will feel self-confident in our ability to express our thoughts and feelings clearly. We will be open, fluent, honest, and unafraid to share how we truly feel.

An imbalance in the throat chakra results in shyness, inability to express our thoughts, secrecy, stubbornness, hostile communication, and a tendency to be socially overbearing.

Each of us have 7 Chakras and when balanced they work together to create an optimal life. If you would like to know more, here’s the info on the Daily Guide and What Are CHAKRAS.

If you would like to join me in cleaning my chakras, I would love it!

Yesterday's exercises -

Journaling, check! I started an online personal journal. This is very important for me because sometimes I don’t use my words. I’m excited about journaling.

Blue food, check! I incorporated blueberries into my meals.

Meditation, check! I meditated to binaural beats.

Yoga - Easy Neck Release Pose, check! Easy!

Affirmation, check! I repeated “ I speak my truth freely and openly.”

I am feeling so good. I know I’ve been saying that everyday, but wow! I’m so glad that I’m doing this. Woo Hoo let’s go.

Today we are going to focus on listening.

I believe it is a rare occasion when we actually actively listen to one another when interacting. We allow ourselves to be distracted, preoccupied by other matters of importance, or thinking about what we’re going to say next. Me, me, me. I think I’m listening then I catch myself interrupting. It’s so rude and I’m working on it.

One of the most difficult communication skills to learn is to give someone the respect and consideration they deserve by being “fully present”… and giving others our full attention.

Passive listening is little more than hearing.

Passive listening is when we are listening without reacting, that is allowing someone to speak without doing anything and not really paying attention to what’s being said.

Active listening includes responses that demonstrate that we understand what the other person is trying to tell us. Active listening can reduce misunderstandings, create a safe space for vocalizing feelings. It will also help us, and the person that is speaking, understand each other better.

1. Active listening and paying attention to others today.

  1. We will use non-verbal sounds or movements to show we are listening, while still permitting the other person to speak.

  2. We will repeat or paraphrasing what is being said ensure there are no misunderstandings.

  3. We will ask open-ended questions rather than making statements or giving advice.

  4. We will put our beliefs, thoughts and feelings on hold to fully appreciate the other person’s emotions.

  5. We will accept the other person’s emotions.

We still want to use meditation, yoga pose, food and an affirmation because this awakens and strengthens our chakra. We need all the help that we can get.

2. Meditation:

Here’s an app for Insight Timer Meditation

Here is the YouTube video for Binaural beats to use with earphones.

Meditate for as long as you would like and it's even better if you are out in nature feeling the grass and trees around to ground you.

Close your eyes and feel the earth beneath you. Inhale taking in fresh nourishing energy, exhale releasing all of the things that no longer serve you or help you move forward.

Sit with your shoulders back and your spine straight. Try to relax all your muscles as you close your eyes and breathe deeply. Inhale through the nose, pulling the breath as far down into your body as you can, and exhale through the mouth.

Chant HAM while meditating

Hhhhhaaaaaaaaaammmm

Focus a blue, warm healing, light coming from our throat.

3. Food: Blue

For a healthy throat chakra eat blueberries, blackberries, blue grapes, currants, kiwifruit, apples, grapefruit, lemons, pears, plums, peaches, figs, and apricots.

4. Yoga pose: Baby Cobra Pose

Baby Cobra pose open up our chest and throat while reducing stress and anxiety.

If you have any medical concerns, talk with your doctor before practicing yoga.

  1. We begin on our stomach and we let our chin rest on the floor and draw the big toes together. Place the arms under the shoulder blades and tuck our elbows tightly in by our ribs.

  2. On an inhale, lift the head and chest from the mat and gaze softly a few inches in front of our hands. Feel the abdominal muscle engage against the floor as the neck opens. Keep the elbows tucked tightly against the ribs to work the biceps.

  3. As we exhale, lower the head and chest and rest the chin on the floor.

  4. Hold for up to 10 seconds or longer if you would like and then we roll over onto our back.

5. Affirmation: “I am balanced in speaking and listening.”

When you state an affirmation you are stating a truth. Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind. The words composing the affirmation, automatically and involuntarily, bring up related mental images into the mind, which could inspire, energize and motivate.

Repeat all day long and if you look in the mirror while stating this, even better!
