What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention in the present moment, and doing it intentionally and without judgment. It is the deliberate act of regulating attention through the observation of thoughts, emotions and body states.
Some mindfulness activities include:
Mindful awareness of breath, body, feelings, emotions throughout the day without judgment
Mindful walking
Mindful eating
Mindful body scan in a sitting or lying down position
Listening without judgment
Benefits of Mindfulness:
Being mindful of our selves and surroundings can help us to slow down and stay focused. It can also improve our ability to manage stress. Mindfulness will help reduce any impulsiveness but increase our empathy and understanding of others. It can increase our capacity to overcome challenges while improving our well-being and engagement in physical activity.
